New courses

Our CEOs are teaching a new Industry 4.0 course where they will present the elements needed to be taken into account to understand what Industry 4.0 is and its main concepts. The techniques needed to define the main processes of digital twins are also presented. https://www.fes.cat/courses/processos-de-industria-4-0-palanques-i-analisi-curs-online/ There will also be a second edition of the course on energy efficiency and self-consumption in industry. https://www.fes.cat/courses/eficiencia-energetica-i-autoconsum-en-la-industria-curs-online/ Continue reading New courses

COVID-19 spread with containment measures

Polyhedra Tech is working on this model about #Covid19 A basic SEIR model and we will investigate what changes would be appropriate for modelling the 2019 Coronavirus. We add simple containment meassures that affect two paramenters, the Susceptible population and the rate to become infected. The initial parametrization is based on the suggested current data. The initial population is set for Catalonia. The questions that we want to answer in this kind of models are not the shape of the curves, that are almost known from the beginning, but, when this happens, and the amplitude of the shapes. This is crucial, … Continue reading COVID-19 spread with containment measures

New Course

We will teach about energy efficiency with Fundació Eduard Soler. Energy management is a key factor in business competitiveness, especially in the context of a constant increase in energy prices, where in a timely manner the process of energy transition to 100% renewable energy and optimization of energy consumption can be key to the success or failure of the activity. New publication: Simplifying the Verification of Simulation Models through Petri Net to FlexSim Mapping

Simplifying the encoding of a simulation conceptual model representation reduces the number of errors that will be detected in the verification phase. In this paper, we present a mapping between Petri nets, a well-known formalism, and FlexSim, a well-known simulation tool. The proposal is illustrated through an example of how a model specified in a Petri net can be encoded easily, reducing the time needed to understand and verify the model. In the proposed methodology, the mapping must be defined at the initial stage of the encoding, starting from (in this case) a Petri net conceptual model, and ending at … Continue reading New publication: Simplifying the Verification of Simulation Models through Petri Net to FlexSim Mapping

11th System Analysis and Modelling Conference Languages, Methods and Tools for Industry 4.0

The System Analysis and Modelling (SAM) conference provides an open arena for participants from academia and industry to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, experiences and concerns in modelling and analysis of complex systems using ITU-T’s Specification and Description Language (SDL‑2010) and Message Sequence Chart (MSC) notations, as well as related system design languages — including but not limited to UML, ASN.1, TTCN, SysML and the User Requirements Notation (URN). SAM 2019 is co-located with MODELS 2019, held in Munich, Germany. http://sdl-forum.org/Events/SAM2019/index.htm Continue reading 11th System Analysis and Modelling Conference Languages, Methods and Tools for Industry 4.0
